A Birthday Party by Linda Booth

It was raining candy. Sarah had never seen such a downpour of deep reds, bright yelllows and glistening silver sweets. They sparkled as she reached out her hands to grab them.

It was the first birthday party she had been invited to and everything seemed magical.

Hitting the donkey so hard that all its stomach contents came out probably wasn’t very p.c. but the rewards afterwards? Wow!

But why was everyone staring at her? They were probably jealous because she was so tall.

The birthday boy sighed and turned to his mum. ‘I thought this party was for us kids?’
